End of fashion week.

I forgot to write about my last show, L'Wren Scott which was yesterday because I was intent on getting my application into Parsons. They were doing an offer of waiving the application fee if you applied by Thursday the 18th. Imagine my surprise to click onto the link fo the offer and find that it had expired! I was very annoyed because I was applying in the alotted time frame. I wrote to the director of admissions and let him know that was some foul shit! After all that application nonsense I was just too tired to post anything, but L'Wren Scott was very nice from the garments I could see. I'll post the pictures from all the shows I went to to the corresponding posts later. I started this post late and I'm tired and now my computer is freezing up. Tomorrow, I'll definately post them!

Fashion week day four.

Today was another Donna Karan day, the higher end collection was shown. I did my intership with Donna Karan for this line 12 years ago! It was really fun and I had hoped to be able to stay, but alas it was not meant. There was a financial crunch back then and it wasn't possible for me to stay. The lady I worked with during my intership was laid off so I knew it wasn't personal.

Well, the collection was lots of black with spots of teal in the dresses. It's very Donna Karan, which I'm glad to see. some years back it wasn't looking very Donna and I wasn't liking it much but they are back on track. I think they got back on track when thier design director Peter Stenopoulous(?) came back after being loured away by Trussardi, I think it was Trussardi... whatever, he's back now and the clothes were very nice.

I don't go in depth about none of these shows because it's a totally different perspective from back stage than seeing the clothes on the models when they are walking on the runway, but mostly I think seeing a picture is easier than trying to find the right words to describe a collection. I really don't feel like doing a lot of decriptive writting. I'd rather show a picture and call it a day. You can make up your own mind about whether or not you like the clothes. I found pictures!WooHoo!

This was the model I worked with today, Jacklyn.

Fashion week day two.

Today was an early day, 7:45. I am so not a morning person, but the show I did today, LaCoste, is a fun show, so I got the hell up. I barely made it because of track work being done on the #1 and 2 line. My normally 25 minute ride took 50 minutes and it was all I could do to not scream on the train while we stuck in the tunnel. I was  so late, about 15 or 20 minutes, and my supervisor for this show has been known to send people home for being late, but she must like me beacuse she only said hi, asked my why I was late and promptly assigned me to my model! I was grateful because LaCoste is a three hour job when other shows are usually two hours. I'm glad to make as much extra dinero as possible!

I like LaCoste because they have menswear in thier show which means male models! I explained yesterday my reason for liking to work with the guys more so than the women. Not that any of the females have been stank or anything, which has not been the case so far, but guys usually dress themselves and will chit chat with you as they do. Today was no exception. My models name was Reid (cute american guy or he could have been Canadian) and the other guy I co-dressed was named Jakob, but the model that has endeared me to him this season was a cutiepie Brazilian model named Francisco. He was tall, about 6'3" he said. He had so many of us dressers lent rolling him or rather the black, wool coat he wore. He was so good natured about it and let us do our thing to make him look good. We were lent rolling any model that walked by because the lent seemed to jump on the models clothes and of course black shows lent like a magnifying glass.
The clothes were rather nice. The first section was of soft grey styles and then they had a whole lot of black with splashes of bright color, a look I like a lot.  When I get pictures you can see for yourself and decide if you like the collection. I was online searching for pictures of the show from yesterday, but my usual sources didn't have any pictures posted as of yet. Hopefully next week. *fingers crossed* Until then, this a picture from last September at the LaCoste Spring show.

This picture was taken with my cell phone after the show.  I'm not photogenic at all and Gordon(Bothe) looks really good in person, this pic doesn't do him real justice. He's tall and he's got really great skin! Must be that nordic air and food or something, he's from Sweden.

The one look Gordon wore at the LaCoste show from last September Spring 2010.

Ciara backstage at the Cynthia Steffe show last September. She's really pretty in person.

I like this models look, her personal look, not just the outfit she's wearing.

Fashion week day one.

It's not really day one, the start of fashion week was yesterday, but I did my first show today so it's my first day. Fall 2010/11. I worked at the Rag & Bone show. They had two different shows, one for the men and one for the women. It was down town which is aggravating because downtown is like a maze to me. I don't go down there much anymore, at least not since I use to go to school down around 4th street. That shool, (Woode)Tobe-Coburn has since moved upown to 40th street . Ah, those were the days...
Anyway, the men's show was first, in the morning. I like working with male models, they are so much easier to deal with than the women for the most part. The guys do what I tell them to do and don't hastle me about it, but this was an easy show. All the models had only one look. A look is simply the outfit they will wear, that is styled or put together in a particular way. Easy show. My models name was Lyle. Nice kid. Skinny as all get out as moat of the dudes are, but I prefer the buffer guys, but they are not the "look" at the moment. I'm hoping and praying for that "look" comes back around.
The Womens show was later in the afternoon. Like the guys, the women had only one look each. My models were Deborah and Kori. I could fall on my knees with gratitude for getting two female models who were sweet and didn't give me a hard time or an attitude during the process. It can get really hectic backstage and you really don't need a difficcult model on top of it. One of my co-workers once told me that he had a model who didn't wan to be touched! Wha?!?!?! Let me tell you, it's not easy to help a model get dressed in 30 seconds without touching them. My co-worker tolde me she dressed herself. He justed handed her the clothes. *shaking my head*
The clothes for Rag & Bone were very nice, the styling was on point. I'll post pictures later.

And  a sidel note, my thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of designer Alexander McQeen who died yesterday. He was a wonderfully talented and creative designer who will be missed in the fashion industry.

Pictures from Rag and Bone. I really liked the styling in this show.

This is that cute yougin' Francisco Lachowski. How funny he was in the first show I did during fashin week and I didn't even know it!

This is the model I worked with during the show, Lyle.
